Mission To honduras JuNE 23 - July 1

At Common Ground, our mission is to connect people to the abundant life only found through an abiding relationship with Christ Jesus. We believe this includes going and making “disciples of all nations” as we have been commissioned to do in Matthew 28:18-20. But “how then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news’!” (Romans 10:14-16). The Gospel truly is the good news our world desperately needs to hear, so we invite you to be part of what God is doing through Common Ground to reach those who have never heard the name of Jesus. We invite you, through prayer and giving, to send these beautiful feet to the ends of the earth for His glory and our joy.

Karen and Lisa Aleman

Missions have been close to my heart since high school when my church youth group took trips to Mexico, and then later I spent a summer in Mexico City through Latin American Missions. During these trips God used the interactions between different cultures and languages in special ways to touch the lives of host communities as well as the visiting missionaries. His presence was tangible, faith and hope grew, and needs were met. It was humbling and perspective altering to serve people who had far less than I do, and yet had something to teach me about generosity and what is truly important in life. It will be a privilege to serve in Honduras this summer with my daughter, Lisa. We pray that Jesus uses us as His hands and feet as we serve the people of La Sierra, Intibucá, and that we are able to share the hope we have in Him.

Hey there! My name is Lisa and I'm currently studying environmental science at UNR. I grew up going to church, but now that I'm older I've had the chance to make my faith my own. I've had a lot of challenging life circumstances, but through them God has shown me his goodness, unconditional love and grace, and that he is our hope. Lately, God has really put the state of our broken world on my heart. He's told me it's time to go and share his love and hope with the rest of the world. It will be the greatest privilege of my life thus far to go to Honduras and do just that. I think and pray about this trip every single day and I am so excited to go.

I feel called to go on this trip to Honduras because I have been feeling tugging on my heart for a long time to go to Honduras to love on children.  I have said yes to this call before but the trip ended up getting canceled.  This opportunity to go to La Sierra, Intibucá, with my Common Ground family means I have another opportunity to say yes to God’s call and the tugging I feel in my heart. I hope God has his way in me in Honduras and his light and love flows through me to bring joy and hope to those around me for his glory and only his glory.  I want to surrender completely to his will and trust him to show me something new and fresh as I serve. I hope God will take my hand and help me be brave as I follow his lead.

The Carpenters

5 of the Carpenters are heading to Honduras on a global outreach trip in June through Common Ground Church teaming up with Inca Link. Derrick, Kallie, Lydia, Kayla, and Elyce will be visiting a missionary located in La Sierra, Intibucá, Honduras.

Not only is this an opportunity to serve those in need, this is an opportunity for our family to gain a larger vision of God's kingdom. Our girls love Jesus and this will help them get to know Him and His mission even better.

What Will We Do?
We will be serving with a local missionary who has established an effective outreach serving children and their families in very rural "shanty towns". Education is a large part of this outreach. Teaching children math and other skills to prepare them for future life. In addition there are VBS type outreaches to teach the gospel and the love of Jesus. Lydia and Kayla have both been learning Spanish and everyone in our family loves to serve and be with children making this an ideal place for us to partner. In addition the ministry serves local families teaching them to garden and grow food both for themselves, and to sell locally. We will be sharing the gospel while helping provide useful life skills to make a dent in the significant poverty in the area.

Prayer -
Pray for God to bolster local ministries in Honduras and that lives will be saved.
Pray that all requirements for travel will come through smoothly.
Pray for the hearts of the Carpenter family that God will prepare them for His service to His glory and use this to draw them deeper into a love relationship with Him.
Pray for Jesus to return soon, but that until then we will be found faithful!

The cost of this trip for a family of five is $16,000. You can support us through freefunder, but if you would like your donation to be tax deductible please follow the link below. Choose the "missions" fund and in the area for notes write "Carpenter Family". Thank you for considering partnering with us as we serve Christ.
